Who We Are
US Tax Calculator is built by a small team of tax-software enthusiasts who believe everyone deserves clear, trustworthy tools for understanding their federal taxes. We are developers, writers, and data nerds rather than a large corporation, and we started this project because most tax tools were either locked behind paywalls, available in only one language, or buried in jargon.
Our focus is serving multilingual users: immigrants, international students, cross-border families, and anyone who thinks about money in more than one language. The calculator interface, tutorials, and FAQ are written natively in English, Chinese, and Spanish; our in-depth tax articles are currently available in English, with more languages planned.
We are not tax preparers and we do not sell filing services. Our job is to make the rules legible: if you leave this site understanding your marginal rate, your FICA withholding, or your Child Tax Credit better than when you arrived, we have done our work.
What We Offer
At the core is one federal tax calculator with built-in brackets, standard deduction, and major credits, plus one-click presets for common scenarios — self-employment tax, capital gains, the Child Tax Credit, and FICA — so you don't need to open separate tools. The calculator supports three tax years — 2025 (official, final), 2026 (official), and 2027 (projected estimates) — and a Compare Tax Years mode runs the same inputs under any 2–3 of them side by side. Alongside it is a dedicated State Tax calculator covering all 50 states plus DC, with its own real per-state pages, and a growing free article library. Everything runs entirely in your browser — no sign-up, no data upload, no paywall.
Our Data & Editorial Standards
All figures come from primary sources: IRS Revenue Procedure 2025-32 for 2026 tax brackets, standard deduction amounts, and thresholds; the Social Security Administration's annual announcement for the $184,500 wage base; and the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) provisions affecting 2026 returns. The full breakdown of every source and formula lives on our Methodology page.
We review every page each tax year against the latest IRS guidance, and the current version was last reviewed and updated in July 2026.
Our Independence
This site is free to use and supported by advertising. Ads never influence results: every calculation runs locally in your browser using published IRS figures, and we accept no paid placements, sponsored results, or preferential treatment of any product, service, or filing method.
What We Are Not
We are not CPAs, Enrolled Agents, or attorneys, and nothing on this site is individualized tax, legal, or financial advice — see our full Disclaimer for the details on scope and limitations.
